SUMMARY:Defenders Day Music of the 250th
DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate America’s Semiquincentennial this Defenders Day\, September 13\, with renowned music historians David & Ginger Hildebrand and the Dan Meyer Choir for a special performance. The museum will open at 12pm with the first performances starting at 1pm and running through 4pm.  The Hildebrands will don period attire to perform patriotic songs\, ballads\, dance tunes\, and theater songs known by George Washington\, Thomas Jefferson\, Benjamin Franklin\, and others. The Dan Meyer Choir will perform original compositions and arrangements about Baltimore and Maryland. \nSchedule\n12 pm – Museum opens to the public\n12:30 pm – First guided tour of historic house\n1 pm – The Dan Meyer Choir performs\n2:30 pm – Second guided tour of historic house\n3 pm – David and Ginger Hildebrand perform\n4:30 pm – Final tour of the day \nThere will be light snacks and guided tours throughout the afternoon so when not listening to the music\, you can explore and enjoy your museum experience. Complimenting the program is the new exhibit\, “Maryland’s America: 250 Years of American History Through Marylander Eyes” open to the public. \nMeet the performers\nThe Hildebrands will perform on and demonstrate their instruments\, including the hammered dulcimer\, violin\, and Spanish & English guitars interpreting various musical traditions\, featuring both the formal and less refined aspects of music during the Revolutionary era. David & Ginger specialize in researching\, recording\, and performing early American music. Since 1980 they have presented concerts and educational programs throughout the country and abroad at museums\, historic sites\, schools and universities. Mount Vernon\, The National Gallery of Art\, The National Archives\, and Colonial Williamsburg are among their many past sponsors. \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThe Dan Meyer Choir was formed in 2009 and has performed at venues across the city. They have performed at The Star-Spangled Spectacular\, Fluid Movement\, and Artscape with annual performances including “Baltimorgue” Halloween show\, Presidents Day/Valentines Day performances of Presidential and/or First Lady love poems\, and “Marylandia” a Maryland Day performance. They present unique\, tongue-in-cheek compositions and arrangements about life in and around Baltimore. \n \n
